Minutes – March 13

 

Meeting was called to order at 5:30 pm by President Patti English.

 

Members present:

Patti English, Tom Deddens, Mike Lipp, Pat Newman, Potter Orr, Sandy Orr, Carolyn Ahlert, Mike Purcell, Barb Levinson, Bob VeVerka, John Burpee and Debbie Cummings.

 

Members absent:

Adrienne Netherwood

Pat Dutson

 

The minutes from the last meeting were read and approved with a correction to the spelling of some names.

 

Announcements

  • Herb Schappera fixed the coat rack and painted the wall, and it was appreciated.
  • ACBL president will be attending the Regional.  A select number of board members will join her for dinner.
  • Potter Orr reported that 100 new card tables have been ordered for use in tournaments.

 

Committee Reports

 

  • John Burpee of Promotions Committee reviewed the ads for the regional. He also mailed letters and play5/1 free cards to non-life masters. 

 

  • Pat Newman assigned board members to hospitality for various nights.  Jerry Mirus is the hospitality chair. We will spend $350/night excluding the wine and the beer.  Tables have been ordered. 

 

  • Sandy Orr has been working on the Future Policy & Planning committee.  There are 29 clubs in the USA that are similar to ours and she is trying to identify.  Jerry Fink, Frank Lichtenberger, and Bill Higgins are also on the committee.  After some discussion about CBA versus CBC, we agreed to let the committee discuss along with a review of the Constitution and Bylaws.  Joy Norris is working on the minutes for a history of motions made by the board for the last 15 years.
  • The Alert deadline is March 17.

 

Old Business

  • Everything is fine with the Awards Party.
  • A second printing of the directory is needed and will be ordered.
  • New Refrigerator, Cabinets and Microwave have been ordered.
  • We are looking seriously at Jungle Jims for future events and waiting for their proposal.

New Business

 

Next Board meeting is April 17, 2007; The meeting concluded at 6:30
