Thanks to everyone who came out for the Second Annual Greater Cincinnati Youth Bridge Championship! Last Friday night, 12 students from 4 different schools battled it out for the title in a pairs game at the Cincinnati Flying Pig Regional. We were thrilled to have ACBL CEO Robert Hartman in attendance to speak to the kids before the event and to present the trophy to the winners -- Jared Hance from Lakota West and Isaac Stephani from Walnut Hills. Congrats!

Of course, having winners from separate schools means that the traveling trophy will spend 6 months at each school, but the optimist in me says that's just good advertising for Cincinnati Youth Bridge! Kudos go out to Glen Hird and James Pun (second place) and Brady Hesse and Austin Rieke (third place), all of St. Xavier High School. However, everyone had a tremendous time, and we'll use this event to continue building the Cincinnati Youth Bridge Program.

Of course no one could wait to check the scores and see who won the City Championship!

Summer Bridge Opportunities

A number of people have asked about opportunities to play over the summer. It's not too late to work something out to play at the Youth Bridge National Championships this August 1-3 in Atlanta, so contact me if you're interested.

We've also worked out a special supervised play opportunity beginning this Saturday, June 15th, from 10:00 AM to Noon, at the Cincinnati Bridge Center on Cooper Road (where we held the Youth Game in February). Mike Purcell will lead this session every Saturday through Labor Day, and it's a great chance to continue learning and playing the game with other newer players and youth. The cost is a mere $1/person, you can leave early or come late, the atmosphere is relaxed and fun, and the focus is on having a good time!

Contact Mike Purcell at mikpur@cinci.rr.com or 513-702-4007 with questions. Parents are absolutely welcome -- this is your chance to learn the game your kids keep jabbering about! Kids, this is a great way to introduce your friends to the game, so bring them along!

Thanks again for a great year for Cincinnati Youth Bridge!
